Cut Business Expenses by Switching to a Payment Service

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Are you planning to enter the business world with an online e-commerce business? There are many factors that you have to consider, including how you will accept and process payments from customers while maintaining the security and confidentiality that your customers expect from you. Did you know that you can cut business-related expenses without sacrificing security or reliability by switching from a third party payment processor to a payment service provider?

There are disadvantages to using third party payment processors, despite the fact that many people assume this to be the easier alternative. For example, with a third party processor you will more than likely end up paying higher percentage fees for individual transactions and higher set up or monthly fees as well. Another problem with these third party payment processors is that they want to keep the money you receive in their accounts for as long as possible, so you can be forced to wait between a week and a month just to receive the money you are entitled to. These options are only ideal for small start up companies on a short term basis. If you plan on staying in business for a long time, or receiving a lot of business through online transactions, obtaining a merchant bank account through a payment service provider is the only way to fly.

The better option, on the other hand, is to obtain a merchant service account and a payment service provider. This process is usually quick, but some banks or payment service providers may request credit checks. Using this service, your business will be able to accept safe and secure online payments, and the payments will be processed and the money sent directly to your bank account. There is no need for you to wait for your money, and these payment service providers will not withhold it. Payment service providers do charge monthly fees and small percentage fees, but these fees are typically much smaller than with third party payment processors.

If you are looking for a way to process payments online through your e-commerce website, the best option for your business is a payment service provider, because the process is faster and cheaper, and much safer and more secure for your clients and customers.
